Healthy Start Bags
The Healthy Start Scheme has replaced the Welfare Food Scheme. Eligible families now receive Healthy Start vouchers which can be used in exchange for fresh fruit, vegetables and milk. The Community Fruit and Veg Project can take Healthy Start vouchers at all its outlets.
In order to tie in with the scheme we produce Healthy Start bags priced at £3.00. These are then delivered to children’s centres and playgroups in Hastings and Rother. You can choose between a Veg Bag, Fruit Bag or Mixed Bag.
£3.00 Veg Bag
This contains five or six different varieties of vegetables including potatoes, carrots, cabbage, courgettes, broccoli, leeks and onions. The bags have largely local or British produce and will vary according to the season.
£3.00 Fruit Bag
There are four or five different varieties of fruit including both locally grown and imported.
£3.00 Mixed Bag
The mixed bags will have a variety of vegetables and fruit. If you need to feed a larger family you may need to order a bag of fruit and a bag of vegetables.
