About the Community Fruit & Veg Project

About the Community Fruit & Veg Project

The Community Fruit & Veg Project was set up as part of the 5-a-Day Programme. We are now a thriving not-for-profit social enterprise. We’re here to supply people with affordable and seasonal produce, always sourcing from local producers in the first place.

This is what we do; we do it well and we’re proud to make a difference.

We are here to provide good fresh produce to people from all communities in Hastings, Rother and surrounding areas. We have a number of charitable purposes:

  • The preservation and protection of health among people residing permanently or temporarily in Hastings, Rother and the surrounding areas.
  • To advance the education of the public in the health benefits of consuming at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, healthy cooking and other food skills.
  • To develop the capacity and skills of the socially and economically disadvantaged in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their nutritional needs, and to participate more fully in society
  • To advance the education of the public in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment by promoting the sustainability of and increasing access to, fresh local produce with clear origins.
